Role Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Ecologist to join our successful team as an Ecology Consultant. The position can be based out of either Leeds or Gateshead office on a hybrid basis.

Job Responsibilities
  • Extended Phase 1 Habitat Surveys: Conduct thorough assessments and mappings of habitats to identify their potential to support notable/protected species.
  • Protected Species Surveys: Undertake surveys for legally protected species, ensuring accurate identification and assessment.
  • Clients and Stakeholders: Liaise with clients, professional advisors, contractors, and the general public to provide effective communication and collaboration.
  • Relationship Building: Develop and maintain strong working relationships at all levels within the business, with clients, subcontractors, and other third parties (regulators, statutory consultees, etc.).
  • Ecological Field Skills: Possess good ecological field skills covering a range of protected species and habitats.
  • Legislative Framework: Have a sound understanding of the legislative and planning policy framework as it relates to ecology and nature conservation.
  • Reporting: Ability to write concise, high-quality, technical reports (including Preliminary Ecological Appraisals and Ecological Impact Assessments) in line with CIEEM guidelines.
  • Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in a relevant subject.
  • Driving Licence: Full UK manual driving licence.
  • Natural England Survey Licence: Any Natural England survey licence (Level 1 or above).
  • BSBI FISC: Commitment to work towards BSBI FISC (Level 3 or above).
