Job Title: Specialist Adult Community Speech

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Speech and Language Therapist to join our Adult Learning Disability Team in Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will have a recognized Speech and Language Therapy degree and HCPC registration, with a strong background in working with adults with learning disabilities.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Work independently and as part of a small team to manage a caseload of clients with complex communication needs and challenging behaviour.
  • Provide specialist assessment, diagnosis, and treatment services to adults with learning disabilities in a range of settings.
  • Develop and implement effective communication strategies and interventions to support individuals with complex needs.
  • Collaborate with other professionals to deliver holistic care and intervention.
  • Supervise and support more junior therapists, assistants, and students.
Requirements:
  • Degree in Speech and Language Therapy (or equivalent).
  • Current professional registration with HCPC and Registered Member of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT).
  • Evidence of relevant CPD/ongoing education.
  • Clinical experience in learning disability, dysphagia, intensive interaction, autism, sensory impairment, dementia, and AAC using a person-centered approach.
