Job Opportunity: Commercial Manager

Vulcain Engineering Group, a global engineering consultancy, is seeking a highly skilled Commercial Manager to join its UK team. As a key member of our Technical Communities, you will play a crucial role in supporting the UK Government's Net Zero 2050 strategy.

With operations in 40 countries and a global workforce of over 2700 staff, our business provides high-value engineering services to clients across multiple industry sectors. Our UK business is well-positioned within the UK Nuclear industry, with a strong track record of delivering exemplary outcomes for our customers.

The Role:

The Commercial Manager will be responsible for the financial management of projects, negotiating and agreeing contracts, and providing analysis of projects and programmes using available data. This role requires a strong commercial acumen, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Lead a commercial team of up to ten people, providing day-to-day management and support.
  2. Manage the procurement process, providing commercial support during the procurement phase and commercial management of contracts during the execution phase.
  3. Provide commercial management for the delivery of contract final account agreements, ensuring maximum operational and financial performance and minimizing commercial risk.
  4. Support the Project Manager in the effective delivery of the contract, ensuring formal completion and closure of all project contracts and identification of commercial lessons learned.
  5. Administer commercial management tools, including CEMAR and SAP.
Requirements:
  1. Degree in Business Studies, Commercial Management, Economics, or a related field.
  2. Commercial management qualifications, such as ICM or CCM.
  3. Chartership status through a recognized international body, such as ICM.
  4. Experience working with NEC3 and FIDIC contracts.
  5. Experience in procurement, contract performance measurement, risk, change, and claim management.
  6. Experience in high-hazard industries, including Nuclear, Energy, Rail, Oil & Gas, and Aviation.
  7. Experience in major projects (£50m+).

In the absence of these qualifications, sufficient relevant experience can be considered. Due to the nature of the work, candidates will be required to undergo a Basic Security clearance (BPSS) and must have Independent Right to Work in the UK.
