About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Centre Operations Manager to join our team at Amazon Data Services UK Limited. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for managing and developing teams of engineers, providing technical and leadership expertise, and ensuring the highest levels of performance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and develop teams of engineers, providing technical and leadership expertise
  • Maintain existing co-located and in-house Data Centres
  • Help build and bring online new Data Centres
  • Constantly improve all our processes and procedures
  • Assist and manage relationships with external vendors and contractors
  • Liaise with internal teams and management groups
  • Ensure adherence to and exceed local Health and Safety standards in all our Data Centres
  • Create and maintain metrics on all aspects of our Data Centres and utilize those metrics to drive positive changes
  • Assist in implementing service methodologies, including incident management, problem management, change management, capacity management, etc.
Requirements
  • Technical degree or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of relevant engineering experience managing large-scale services and 3 years managing and building strong successful technical teams in a similar culture
  • Project Management Experience and Systems and networking knowledge
  • Prior ownership of the operation of a mission-critical team and/or product
Preferred Qualifications
  • Formal project management certifications (Prince2, PMP, AGILE)
  • Scripting: Bash, Python, Perl, Ruby (or programming languages)
  • Experience or knowledge of AWS products: EC2, EBS, S3 and infrastructure and system redundancy (Power feeds, ATS, Server Hardware, RAID, Network Connectivity)
