Data Centre Operations Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Data Centre Facilities Manager to join our team at Amazon Data Services UK Limited. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our data centres, providing exceptional customer service, and driving process improvements.
Key Responsibilities- Health and Safety: Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and standards in all data centres, identifying and mitigating potential risks to ensure a safe working environment.
- Team Management: Lead and develop a team of engineers and technicians, providing technical and leadership expertise to ensure high levels of performance and customer satisfaction.
- Operational Excellence: Maintain existing operational data centres to the highest level of availability, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal performance.
- Process Improvement: Continuously identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, productivity, and customer satisfaction.
- Vendor Management: Manage relationships with external vendors and contractors, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery of services.
- Metrics and Reporting: Develop and maintain metrics to track key performance indicators, providing insights to drive business decisions and process improvements.

Requirements- Electrical and Mechanical Systems: Excellent understanding of electrical and mechanical systems involved in critical data centre operations, including feeders, transformers, generators, switchgear, UPS systems, ATS units, PDU units, chillers, pumps, and air handling units.
- People Management: Proven track record of people management and team development, ensuring staff are equipped with the necessary skills and processes to excel in their roles.
- SLA Management: Experience managing service level agreements (SLAs) through proactive issue detection and reporting, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction.
- Technical Expertise: Ability to demonstrate technical expertise in data centre operations, including electrical and mechanical systems, and a willingness to engage with other support teams to resolve complex issues.
- Advanced Qualification: Advanced electrical or mechanical qualification (Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant engineering discipline) or equivalent experience.
- Data Centre Experience: Experience working in data centres, with a focus on building and equipment operation.
- Documentation and Reporting: Experience delivering accurate and complete support procedures, system documentation, and issue tracking entries.
