Rethink Mental Illness is a leading charity provider of mental health services in England, and we are currently seeking a skilled Mental Health Support Worker to join our team at Rowan House in Trowbridge, Wiltshire.

As a Mental Health Support Worker, you will play a crucial role in promoting recovery and social inclusion for adults with mental illness. You will work closely with service users to achieve their personal goals and support them in accessing necessary care and resources.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one support to service users, including key worker support and liaison with other mental health agencies.
  • Focus on individual needs, using communication, motivation, and coaching to support users in achieving their goals.
  • Build rapport based on respect and honesty, maintaining professional boundaries and adhering to the Rethink Mental Illness Code of Conduct.
  • Work with and support individuals on their Care/Recovery Plans
  • Encourage service users to recognise, understand, and manage factors that affect their mental wellbeing and physical health
  • Carry out needs assessments of individuals choosing to engage within the service and prioritise needs effectively.

Requirements:

  • Transferable life/work experience relevant to this role.
  • Good listening skills, empathy, understanding, kindness, patience, and a willingness to learn.
  • Ability to demonstrate behaviours consistent with the Charity's values.
  • Experience in supporting people with mental illness or providing care/support services in a housing setting (paid or voluntary) is a plus.
  • Excellent administration, organisation, and planning skills.
  • Competent in the use of IT systems including Microsoft applications, email, and internet.
