About the Job

We're seeking a highly skilled Cybersecurity Engineer to join our Product Security team at News Corp, a leading media business.

In this role, you'll work closely with our cybersecurity and product engineering teams to ensure our applications are developed securely and vulnerabilities are managed. Ideal candidates will have a couple of years' experience in cybersecurity or be looking to transition from a related field such as software development.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Operate Security Tools: Utilise tools like Static Application Security Testing (SAST) and Software Composition Analysis (SCA) to identify vulnerabilities across our codebase.
  2. Review & Triage: Analyze the output of application security tools and reports, triaging vulnerabilities and ensuring they are appropriately addressed.
  3. Threat Modelling: Support threat modelling sessions to identify and mitigate potential security risks.
  4. Custom Tools & Scripts: Contribute to the development and maintenance of custom internal tools and scripts to enhance our security posture.
  5. Developer Support: Be a go-to resource for our developer community, offering advice and support on security best practices.
About You

To succeed in this role, you should have a genuine passion for cybersecurity and a strong desire to stay current with the latest trends and threats. A deep understanding of common web vulnerabilities, such as the OWASP Top 10, and knowledge of how to mitigate them is essential. Experience operating common application security tools, such as SAST tools, is also required.

We estimate the salary for this position to be around $120,000 per year, depending on location and experience.
