About the Role

The University Hospital of North Midlands NHS Trust is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant Radiologist to join our team. As a Cardiothoracic Radiologist, you will play a crucial role in providing high-quality imaging services to support the diagnosis and treatment of patients with cardiothoracic conditions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Contribute to the provision of a first-class imaging service, working closely with respiratory physicians, cardiothoracic surgeons, and other multidisciplinary teams.
  • Develop and maintain expertise in cardiothoracic imaging, including CT and MRI, and contribute to the development of new imaging protocols and techniques.
  • Participate in the delivery of a high-quality radiology service, including diagnostics and interventional imaging, and contribute to the development of new services and initiatives.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure seamless communication and coordination of patient care.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of quality improvement initiatives and participate in clinical governance activities.

Person Specification
  • Full Registration with the GMC.
  • Clinical training and experience equivalent to that required for gaining entry on the General Medical Council (GMC) Specialist Register via one of the following: Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration (CESR).
  • Completed full training in Radiology.
  • Ability to offer expert clinical opinion on a range of problems within speciality.
  • Willingness to develop an area of special interest to fit in with current establishment and service needs.
  • Good writing and presentation skills.
  • Ability to organise and prioritise workload effectively.
  • Ability to plan strategically and to exercise sound judgements when faced with conflicting pressures.
  • Ability to motivate and develop the multi-disciplinary team, balancing departmental and personal objectives.
  • Ability to support the Clinical Director of Imaging.
  • Ability to teach clinical skills to medical staff and students, and other disciplines.
