Job Summary

Fife Council is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Civil Engineer to lead the Flood Risk Management team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the delivery of flood risk management, coastal, and harbours projects, ensuring compliance with national legislation and Fife Council's policies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and implementation of effective flood prevention, shoreline management, and harbours functions.
  • Manage the procurement, design, and supervision of hydraulic flood and coastal studies and construction projects.
  • Lead the implementation of the Council's duties as harbour authority under appropriate legislation.
  • Review new legislation, best practices, and technical standards within the flooding, shorelines, and harbours functions.
  • Prepare reports for the Service Manager, working groups, or committees on technical, financial, performance, and service delivery issues.

Requirements

  • SCQF level 10 qualification in Civil or Structural Engineering or equivalent.
  • Chartered Engineer or hydrologist registration with a professional body.
  • Ability to provide a regular and effective service and promote a positive culture in the workplace.
  • Extensive knowledge of civil engineering functions, specifications, and tendering procedures.
  • Experience of managing contracts using the NEC suite of contracts.
