Job Title: SEN Teacher

Location: Tees Valley

Salary: £30,000 - £40,000 per annum

Contract: Full time, Permanent

Teaching Personnel Permanent Workforce Team is partnering with a UK wide SEN Trust to hire an experienced SEN Teacher to join their campus in Tees Valley area. The role involves teaching students with SEMH/ASC and specific learning difficulty needs, aged 11-16 years old. The successful candidate will work with students in small groups of up to 8, supported by excellent Teaching Assistants providing additional 1:1 support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver the curriculum as prescribed by our schemes of work.
  • Effectively plan lessons that are stimulating, relevant and well-structured to cater to a wide range of abilities and communication needs.
  • Work with the Head Teacher and other members of the leadership team to ensure the successful delivery of the school's vision, ethos, aims and objectives.
  • Deliver the school's ethos and educational vision, enabling effective teaching and support, successful learning and achievement by students, and sustained improvement in their spiritual, moral, social, cultural, mental and physical well-being.
  • Deliver effective teaching and learning, monitor and evaluate the quality of teaching support and standards of students' achievement, using benchmarks and setting targets for improvement.
  • Monitor, evaluate and review practice in the classroom, implementing strategies to ensure under-performance is challenged and appropriate changes to practice are implemented.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher status
  • Science and/or secondary teaching experience desired
  • Thorough working knowledge of the curriculum and how to adapt it for pupils with SEN
  • Experience of working with young people with ASD
  • Understanding of the Safeguarding principles and Child Protection procedure
  • Ability to create and maintain nurturing relationships with young people
