Job Overview

Gavia Environmental Ltd is a dynamic and growing environmental consultancy firm based in Scotland. We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Ecologist to join our team as a full-time member. The successful candidate will play a critical role in delivering high-quality ecological services to our clients, working closely with our Scottish Ecology team to achieve project goals.

Main Responsibilities

  • To undertake ecology surveys and assessments to ensure compliance with relevant legislation and guidelines;
  • To scope and project manage small to medium-scale projects from initiation to completion, ensuring timely delivery and effective communication with clients and stakeholders;
  • To build and maintain strong relationships with clients, identifying business opportunities and generating new leads for Gavia Environmental Ltd;
  • To negotiate with statutory agencies, NGOs, and other stakeholders on behalf of clients, providing strategic advice and guidance where required;
  • To maintain company reporting standards and develop your own professional development, adhering to the CIEEM/IEMA/CIWEM/IFM Professional Code of Conduct.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  1. Excellent plant ID and habitat survey skills;
  2. Higher education certificate or degree equivalent in an environmental subject area;
  3. Full and valid driving license;
  4. Advanced understanding of the EIA process and methods;
  5. Appropriate professional membership;
  6. IT proficiency, particularly within Microsoft applications and project management and planning software.

Desirable but Not Essential Attributes

  1. NatureScot Licence holder;
  2. Experience with aquatic flora and habitats;
  3. Holder of a CSCS or EMSS Safety Passport card;
  4. LANTRA 4x4 training;
  5. Emergency Outdoor First Aid.
