About the Role

Priory Hospital Bristol is seeking a Specialty Doctor to join our Adult Mental Health team. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will work closely with Consultant Psychiatrists to provide continuous medical cover to patients on our ward.

Our hospital is an elegant 18th-century country residence set in beautiful parkland, close to the centre of Bristol. We have 77 beds across seven wards, offering a range of services including Eating Disorders, Acute Mental Health, and Adult Psychiatric Intensive Care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess, investigate, diagnose, and treat inpatients under Consultant supervision
  • Develop treatment plans and programmes to ensure good medical practice within the MDT setting
  • Participate in ward reviews and CPA meetings to promote individuals' recovery and facilitate discharge
  • Work closely with the Consultant Psychiatrist to provide continuous medical cover on a daily basis
Requirements
  • Full GMC registration
  • 12 months' eating disorder experience
  • Relevant experience within a similar setting (preferred)
  • Approval under Section 12 of the Mental Health Act (preferred)
  • Excellent knowledge of the Mental Health Act and Code of Practice
  • The ability to interview, assess, and treat patients and write clear comprehensive medical notes
  • Proven record of CPD
  • Desirable: Membership of Royal College of Psychiatrists, Physicians, General Practitioners, or equivalent
What We Offer

We offer a unique opportunity to work in a female acute unit with extensive medical support. Our team encourages full involvement of service users, their families, and external professionals throughout their stay. We provide a range of therapeutic approaches, combining psychiatric and cognitive behavioural perspectives with occupational therapy, psychology, leisure, and recreational activity.

General working hours are Monday to Friday, 9:00 – 17:00, with no on-call responsibilities. You will assist with physical healthcare, clerk in new admissions, and manage patients' physical health needs outside of working hours.
