Holtec International is a global leader in the design and development of safe and secure energy solutions. We are seeking a highly skilled Structural Integrity Specialist to join our team of experts in the design of the SMR-160+ small modular reactor.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in structural assessments and a deep understanding of the principles of solid mechanics. They will be responsible for assisting with the development of the Structural chapter of the Safety Case for submission to the Office for Nuclear Regulation (ONR) for use in the Generic Design Assessment (GDA).

The ideal candidate will have experience with finite element modeling and analysis using codes such as ANSYS, as well as a strong understanding of beam and plate stress calculations. They will also be able to work independently and balance competing priorities, with strong interpersonal and presentation skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Structural assessments of plant systems, structures and components
  • Assist with the development of the Structural chapter of the Safety Case
  • Coaching and mentoring to develop the team in technical and personal skills
  • Prepare and deliver presentations to internal and external organizations
  • Defend structural design positions

Requirements:

  • Degree qualified in an engineering or science related discipline
  • Good knowledge and experience in the principles of solid mechanics
  • Ability to work independently and balance competing priorities
  • Strong interpersonal and presentation skills

Desired Skills:

  • Experience with stress analysis codes such as ANSYS and LS-DYNA
  • Knowledge of ASME code
