We are seeking a permanent opportunity for motivated and suitably qualified Structural Engineers to carry out Structural and Steelwork engineering support for Energy projects from concept to completion in the South West of England.

Salary:

£80,000 - £110,000 per annum, depending on experience.

About the Role:

As a Nuclear Structural Integrity Engineer at Vulcain Engineering Group, you will be responsible for managing or participating in steelwork structure design ensuring compliance with Civil and Mechanical Nuclear Standards. You will collaborate with CAD designers to prepare design drawings and models, control calculation notes, analytical models, and design drawings. Additionally, you will maintain company and customer QA procedures in civil design delivery for a nuclear reactor site.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage or participate in steelwork structure design ensuring compliance with Civil and Mechanical Nuclear Standards.
  • Collaborate with CAD designers to prepare design drawings and models.
  • Control calculation notes, analytical models, and design drawings.
  • Maintain company and customer QA procedures in civil design delivery for a nuclear reactor site.
  • Manage engineering changes liaising with concrete structures, pipes, electrical, and ventilation interfaces design management teams.
  • Liaise with project stakeholders (design offices, construction teams, project management).
  • Write technical documents to support delivery.
  • Participate in technical communities to support Vulcain staff development.

Requirements:

  • Master's degree in Civil, Structural, or Mechanical engineering (or equivalent).
  • Senior/principal level of experience in detailed Steel Structure design.
  • Chartership status or actively undergoing Chartership through a recognized international body.
  • Experience in high-hazard industries (Nuclear, Oil & Gas, Energy, Heavy process Industry, or Bridge).
  • On-site design support and mentoring junior engineers.
  • Proficiency in Robot / Rstab / STAAD Pro (or similar software).
  • Civil Standards knowledge (Eurocodes / ETC-C / RCC-CW).
