Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Structural Integrity Design Specialist to join our team at Holtec International. This is an exciting opportunity to work on the design of the SMR-160+ small modular reactor, a cutting-edge project in the field of nuclear energy.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting structural assessments of plant systems, structures, and components. They will also assist with the development of the Structural chapter of the Safety Case for submission to the Office for Nuclear Regulation (ONR) for use in the Generic Design Assessment (GDA).

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct static and dynamic finite element modeling and analyses (FEA) using codes such as ANSYS.
  • Perform drop and impact analyses and target response using codes such as LS-DYNA.
  • Calculate beam and plate stress using established principles of strength of materials.
  • Lead structural assessments of plant systems, structures, and components.
  • Assist with the development of the Structural chapter of the Safety Case.
  • Cooking and mentoring to develop the team in technical and personal skills enabling them to deliver.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations to internal and external organizations including the nuclear regulators.
Requirements
  • Degree qualified in an engineering or science related discipline.
  • Good knowledge and experience in the principles of solid mechanics.
  • Ability to work independently and balance competing priorities.
  • Strong interpersonal skills. Able to engage credibly within and external to the business.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills – able to present at multiple organizational levels and to external regulatory stakeholders.
Salary

We offer a competitive salary of $120,000 per year, reflecting the high level of expertise required for this role.
