About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Emergency Planning Specialist to join our team at LB Richmond upon Thames & LB Wandsworth. As an Emergency Planning Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the Councils are prepared to respond and recover from emergencies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and deliver training and exercises to ensure the Councils are prepared to respond to emergencies.
  • Review and improve response plans to ensure they are effective and up-to-date.
  • Collaborate with external organizations, including emergency services and voluntary sector groups, to ensure a coordinated response to emergencies.
  • Support Council services with their business continuity arrangements to minimize disruption to services.
  • Help develop new capabilities to increase preparedness and response to emergencies.
Essential Qualifications, Skills and Experience
  • Experience of maintaining good relationships with stakeholders, including emergency services and voluntary sector groups.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to bring new ideas to the team.
  • Ability to interpret guidance and develop action plans to ensure effective response to emergencies.
  • Confidence working in a project delivery environment with rapidly changing priorities.
  • Understanding of the aims and objectives of emergency planning and business continuity.
  • Familiarity with the Joint Emergency Services Interoperability Principles (JESIP) and Civil Contingencies Act.
  • Experience of using Microsoft Office packages, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
