      Job Title: Verification Test Engineer

     Lumentum, a leading provider of optical components for ultra-high data rate systems, has an exciting opportunity for a Verification Test Engineer to join our Chip R&D team. This role will involve developing semi-automated and fully automated test kits for the characterization of advanced photonic integrated circuits and devices.

     The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work closely with other members of the verification team, chip design teams, and the wider chip R&D community, contributing to the development of world-leading optical components for use in cloud data centre, 5G mobile, and coherent telecommunications optical fibre networks.

     Key responsibilities include:

  • Designing test kits for optical and electrical experimental characterization of new and improved photonic devices and photonic integrated circuits (PICs)
  • Developing automated test procedures (hardware/software) for experimental testing of photonic III-V semiconductor devices
  • Creating custom test fixtures to enable automated testing of new chip technologies
  • Implementing custom test routines used to verify device performance
  • Maintaining configured test kits, including documentation, data collection/storage, software revisions, and implementation of new test features

     The ideal candidate will possess a degree in electronics/electrical engineering or a related discipline, or significant experience working in test automation. Additionally, they will have specific experience of device/component testing for new product introduction, setting up test hardware/software, and data acquisition. Experience with Python/C#, 3D design software, and designing prototype electronics will also be beneficial.
