About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Perioperative Specialist to join our team at Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital. As a key member of our multidisciplinary clinical team, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality care to patients undergoing cardiovascular interventional procedures in our Cardiac Catheter Laboratories.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the Senior Nurse Manager in the safe and effective delivery of anaesthetic and recovery practice for patients in the Cardiac Catheter Laboratories.
  • Act as an expert clinical resource, coordinating learning and development of anaesthetic and recovery skills for the cath lab nursing team.
  • Work collaboratively with other professionals and agencies to ensure patient needs are met, providing skilled assistance to the operator and anaesthetist during cardiovascular interventional procedures.
  • Establish and maintain effective communication with patients and carers/relatives, recognising and responding appropriately to urgent and emergency situations.
  • Collect, collate, and report information, maintaining accurate records in line with NMC, HPC, and Trust policy.
Person Specification
  • Essential qualifications: ODP/Anaesthetic module, Anaesthetics and recovery qualification, Post-Registration qualification or evidence of further study related to peri-operative practice, Teaching and mentorship experience.
  • Desirable qualifications: 2 Years experience, Teaching & Mentorship qualification, Experience of emergency situations.
Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to develop and maintain communication with a range of people about difficult matters/situations.
  • Able to manage own workload, coordinate the work of others, and work with minimal supervision.
  • Knowledge of professional and NHS issues.
  • Ability to address issues and challenge in an assertive manner when required.
  • Ability to manage time effectively, to organise and prioritise.
  • Basic knowledge of resource management within the clinical setting.
