The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced senior nurse clinical leader to join our team as a Responsible Clinician in Specialist Palliative Care. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing expert clinical leadership and developing the role of the nurse consultant bed holder within NHS Scotland.

The successful candidate will have significant clinical leadership experience and a passion for innovation in transforming nursing roles and maximising the contribution of nursing to managing the patient care journey. You will be an expert clinician with comprehensive knowledge of clinical guidelines and standards within the speciality.

The Specialist Palliative Care service operates across community, hospital and hospice services, and the Responsible Clinician will be expected to undertake the complimentary role of inpatient non-medical bed holder within the inpatient hospice area.

In addition to bed holding responsibilities, this role will be developed to support care across the Specialist Palliative care service and the transforming roles agenda within our specialist nurse team.

We are looking for a dynamic, innovative and forward-thinking nurse who is passionate about delivering high-quality patient care and leading clinical teams.

What we're looking for
  • Registered Healthcare practitioner with valid UK Registration (NMC / HCPC) with significant experience in a senior clinical / management role
  • Master Degree in a relevant subject and working towards / evidence of working to doctorate level
  • Further education/evidence of Continuous Professional Development in area of speciality including study days/courses/post graduate qualification
  • Post graduate expertise within speciality / area of practice that demonstrates the required breadth of knowledge required to lead safety, effectively and efficiently, including Independent and supplementary prescribing within the appropriate legal frameworks

Fixed Term or Secondment for 22 months

Please note this is a fixed term post for 22 months. Where a post only has temporary funding and an existing member of NHS Lanarkshire staff wishes to apply, this will be treated as a secondment.
