Civil Engineering Support Specialist

The Lancashire County Council is looking for an experienced Development Control Technician to join their Highways Service team in Bamber Bridge, Preston. This role involves supporting the Area West Section 38/278 Team Leader and Assistant Engineer in managing the delivery of highway civil engineering works. The successful candidate will have strong communication and interpersonal skills, with experience in highway maintenance, operational, civil engineering, or Section 38/278 processes.
About the Job:
In this role, you will:
• Monitor progress and ensure compliance with approved designs on-site.
• Resolve issues and concerns arising during the construction process through effective communication with development site managers.
• Collaborate with colleagues to deliver the Section 38/278 process successfully.
Your Skills and Qualifications:
• Valid driving license and access to a motor vehicle for official journeys (travel expenses paid).
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with colleagues and stakeholders.
• Experience in highway maintenance, operational, civil engineering, or Section 38/278 processes.
