Job Description

The post-holder will be expected to contribute to the bespoke full shift rota which is roughly a 1 in 4. The rota is compliant with the terms and conditions of the 2016 Junior Doctor Contract and WTD.

Main Responsibilities
  1. Day-to-day participation in clinical activities with direct resident tier who will support both day and night.
  2. Acute Neonatal Unit cover and attendance at deliveries providing NLS if required.
  3. General ward duties, including patient reviews and day-to-day assistance with management of the neonatal unit, delivery suite and postnatal ward.
  4. Assessing and managing critically ill or injured babies.

The post holder will be one of the four doctors contributing to the full shift rota with a weekend frequency of roughly 1 in 4 with 21-night shifts across a 27-week reference period and is prospectively covered for annual and study leave.

Person Specification
  • MBBS, MB ChB or equivalent medical qualification.
  • NLS
  • Safeguarding training - Level 3
  • Full Registration and a licence to practise with the General Medical Council (GMC)
  • 3 years post-graduate study with demonstrable equivalent experience and/or completion of NHS foundation and core/specialist training years 1 and 2 with 6-months neonatal experience.
