About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Environmental Health Specialist to join our team at Coventry City Council. As an Environmental Health Specialist, you will play a key role in supporting the delivery of services under Council policies and priorities.

You will be responsible for dealing with various environmental quality issues, including fly-tipping, commercial and domestic waste enforcement, nuisance vehicle complaints, littering, and fly posting. You will also coordinate the City's response to unauthorised traveller encampments and deal with Anti-Social Behaviour issues, including statutory nuisance complaints about domestic noise, light, odour, and bonfire complaints.

As an Environmental Health Specialist, you will undertake a varied caseload and use appropriate legislation to take all necessary courses of action, including education, mediation, enforcement, and prosecution. You will work closely with other teams and stakeholders to achieve our goals and objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a demanding workload and deal with conflicting priorities
  • Use Microsoft Office software to produce high-quality documentation, including letters and reports
  • Devise, implement, and evaluate successful projects
  • Influence, persuade, and negotiate skills, with the ability to deal effectively with conflict and aggression

Requirements

We are looking for someone with knowledge and understanding of Environmental Health, with an emphasis on Environmental Crime, Anti-social Behaviour, Highways, and Noise legislation. You should have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and be able to work effectively with people from a range of backgrounds.
