Job Summary:

A highly motivated and strategic Director of Communications and Engagement is required to join University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Trust. The successful candidate will be responsible for shaping and delivering communication strategies, both internally and externally, to enhance engagement, reputation, and overall communication effectiveness.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Lead and be accountable for the communications function, providing professional advice and expertise on all aspects of communication and stakeholder engagement.
  • Oversee and create inspiring and creative campaign content, developing communication and campaign strategies that support the delivery of the Trust's strategic agenda.
  • Contribute to corporate decision-making and strategic development at a senior level.

About the Role:

The Director of Communications and Engagement will be a key member of the senior management team, working closely with internal stakeholders to promote the Trust's vision and values.

Key Requirements:

  • Master's level education or equivalent experience.
  • Specialist communications qualification or equivalent experience and knowledge.
  • Evidence of continued professional development.
  • Experience at a senior level in communications/media in an NHS setting.
  • Experience of devising and implementing effective communications and engagement strategies, including social media.

University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Trust operates from three main hospitals: Furness General Hospital, Royal Lancaster Infirmary, and Westmorland General Hospital. The Trust provides a range of General Hospital services, including Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units, and Consultant-led services.
