Technical Operations Role

The Technical Operations role at ION Group is a critical position that requires a high level of technical expertise and excellent communication skills. As a Technical Operations Specialist, you will work directly with clients, exchanges, and third-party vendors to ensure the smooth running of ION hosted environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Investigate and resolve technical incidents assigned to you by the Service Desk.
  2. Prioritize and manage incidents effectively, keeping stakeholders informed and up-to-date on the internal incident tracking system.
  3. Communicate technical updates and solutions to clients in a clear and concise manner.
  4. Develop and maintain in-depth knowledge of supported software, including database structure and configuration files, to assist in issue investigation and resolution.
  5. Oversee and test the deployment of direct-delivered software to ensure seamless integration and minimal disruption to clients.
  6. Identify and resolve unexpected events or failures that impact client use of supported systems.
  7. Conduct regular application and capacity system checks to proactively identify and resolve potential issues.
  8. Build strong working relationships with other departments to ensure effective delivery of services to clients.
  9. Collaborate with 3rd party vendors and exchanges on software upgrades and market events.
  10. Adhere to best practices and department procedures for client communications, incident progression, and investigation.
  11. Participate in team shift patterns and assist with weekend work and out-of-hours escalation when required.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  1. Strong technical foundation in areas such as database technologies and system performance.
  2. Ability to read and understand code in one or more programming languages, including C++, TCL, and UNIX Scripting.
  3. Logical problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot technical issues.
  4. Initiative, attention to detail, and ability to work independently.
  5. Dynamic, resilient, and objective approach to delivering rapid and accurate solutions to client incidents.
  6. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  7. Confident and professional demeanor.
  8. Ability to manage time and workload effectively.
  9. Cooperative approach to working with team members and other departments.
  10. Ability to view situations from a client perspective and act accordingly.
  11. Strong desire to develop a deep understanding of financial markets and business flows, as well as system functionality.
  12. Working knowledge of networks and network infrastructure is desirable.
