Director of Purchasing Job Description

Zippia, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Director of Purchasing to oversee our buying procedures, from planning to execution, following company policies and standards.

The ideal candidate will conduct research and evaluations to understand project needs concerning price, quality, and delivery time. They will identify suitable suppliers, negotiate deals, and foster positive business relationships.

The Director of Purchasing will determine production materials, set budgets, and build trust with vendors. They should understand accounting principles and use software like Microsoft Word and Excel.

Responsibilities
  • Manage all aspects of the RFQ process, contracts, cost and rebate negotiations, and awarding of business.
  • Develop standards and implement procedures for materials planning, product acquisition, inventory control, material distribution, and logistics management.
Requirements

A Director of Purchasing needs a range of skills including the ability to manage vendor and supplier relationships, plan and implement global procurement programs, and evaluate the effectiveness of purchasing standards.

They must also be able to recognize needs and activate purchases using computer-generated systems.
