Kepak Group is an Irish company and one of Europe's leading meat processors. Our portfolio includes market-leading brands such as Rustlers, Big Al's, John Stone, Stript Snacks, and Celtic Beef. We aim to grow both our business and the careers of our people.
We have exciting opportunities for individuals looking to start their engineering careers. Our Maintenance team plays a crucial role in getting our products onto shelves quickly. We need two Engineering Apprentices to join our team at the Rustlers factory in Kirkham, Lancashire. You will be supported by a Mentor who will guide you through your apprenticeship and help you achieve your qualification.
This programme offers a perfect entry point into Engineering and the wider Food Industry through a structured apprenticeship. As an apprentice, you will earn while you learn – Kepak pays you while you are being trained, and you will complete a Level 3 Engineering apprenticeship.
Our Engineering apprentices salary structure is as follows:
- Year 1: £17,000
- Year 2: £20,500
- Year 3: £24,500
- Year 4: £30,000
The Role:
You will carry out effective Planned Preventative Maintenance, maintenance and rectification works following audits, inspections, and production reports. You will work to make continual improvements to plant and equipment, reducing repeat common point failures and improving site efficiencies. You will keep workshops, plant rooms, and engineering storage areas to a high standard that exceeds internal and external audit requirements. You will also maintain workshop tools and equipment, update records of work completed on paper-based and computer systems, and report any risks or unsafe conditions to designated managers.
Your Learning Opportunities:
You will gain knowledge of mathematical techniques, formulae, and calculations in a maintenance environment and understand mechanical, electrical, electronic, fluid power, and process control principles in a mechatronics maintenance environment. You will learn about fault diagnostic methods, condition monitoring methods, and how to implement planned preventative maintenance programmes to minimise machinery downtime.
Requirements:
To succeed in this role, you will need to be reliable, fully committed to the 4-year Apprentice programme, and have a positive attitude with strong attention to detail. You must be willing to learn at all times, flexible in your approach to work, and have a real interest in Engineering and problem-solving. You will also need to work well in a team, travel to our Kirkham site daily, and our training provider as required, and hold GCSE Grade C/4 or above (or equivalent) in Maths and English.
Benefits:
As a member of the Kepak Team, you will receive an Employee Discount Scheme, Service-Related Annual Leave, Educational Assistance/L&D, Discounted Meat Products, Cycle to Work Scheme, and Employee Assistance Programme.
