Geo-Environmental Engineer

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Graduate Geo-Environmental Engineer to join our team in Wakefield, UK. As a key member of our Geo division, you will provide support to our engineers and project managers through the allocation of tasks and resources.
The ideal candidate will have a strong academic background in Geology, Geography, or Earth Sciences and be able to work effectively in a team environment. You will be responsible for assisting with the supervision of ground investigation works, traveling throughout the UK, and attending industry-recognized training courses.
Key responsibilities include:
- Assisting with the supervision of ground investigation works, including mentoring and shadowing.
- Traveling throughout the UK, with a focus on field-based work and occasional overnight stays.
- Attending and passing internal and industry-recognized external training courses, such as PTS, NRASWA, CCNSG, CAT, First Aid, and manual handling training.
- Logging soil and rock samples in accordance with BS5930:2020.
- Installing and monitoring a range of instrumentation, including gas and groundwater, inclinometer, vibrating wire piezometer (VWP), magnetic extensometers, water level divers, and other bespoke projects.
- Undertaking gas and groundwater sampling.
- Supporting the Geo, Survey, and Applied Technologies departments with site-based projects, as required.
- Timely data management, processing, and reporting.
- Assisting with the maintenance and organization of the yard, including arranging, sorting, picking, and delivering soil samples.
- Overseeing monitoring equipment hiring, off-hiring, maintenance, servicing, and repairs.
- Adhering to all RSK company policies and client policies and procedures when on site.
- Maintaining and developing technical knowledge, such as British Standards and industry standards, with the support of the company.
About You:
We are looking for a candidate who is self-motivated, solutions-focused, organized, and able to manage their time effectively. You will be able to conduct business in a professional and polite manner at all times and be adaptable to variable working environments. A manual, valid UK driving license and unrestricted work rights in the United Kingdom are essential.
