Mechanical Maintenance Shift Engineer Role Summary

This Mechanical Maintenance Shift Engineer opportunity is available with Biffa Waste Services. The successful candidate will work as part of an established maintenance team, driving a safety-first mentality whilst supporting the delivery of the Condition Based Maintenance programme.

The role involves ensuring the latest technology is coupled with industry-leading practices to implement efficiency and sustainability in line with company values. Key responsibilities include executing planned maintenance activities, monitoring, and routine tasks, and providing the necessary technical feedback to allow improvement to the job plans and task list within the CMMS.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Maintain maintenance document and drawings to the required standard to ensure legal compliance.
  2. Use of SCADA and HMI to determine process condition(s) and to aid in fault finding in the event of corrective maintenance or to determine the true reason for process poor performance.
  3. Reporting of any poor maintenance practices and any deviations from the Renewi Maintenance Management Framework and supporting business process standards.
  4. Use of the CMMS system for any work relating to the maintenance services delivery (Work Orders) and the recording of time, spares and any other resources required to execute the work.
  5. Assist in mechanical plant upgrades as assigned by Lifecycle Team Manager to ensure CLEER/Capex forms are completed on time and effectively.

Requirements:

  1. Strong fault diagnosis and rectification on the above detailed systems and equipment.
  2. The ability to read to a high level of understanding PIDs and mechanical schematics including pneumatics and hydraulics.
  3. Good working knowledge on rotating machinery, shaft alignment, machinery mounting, service equipment, conveying systems, pneumatics, and hydraulics.
  4. Competent in the use of machine tools and hand tools that would be expected to be used in maintenance activities.
  5. Excellent understanding of health, safety, and environmental compliance.
  6. Working knowledge of PTW and LOTO systems.
