Job Title: Mechanical Maintenance Shift Engineer

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Maintenance Shift Engineer to join our team at Biffa Waste Services Limited. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our facilities.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for executing planned maintenance activities, including inspections, monitoring, and routine maintenance. You will work closely with our maintenance team to drive a safety-first mentality and support the delivery of our Condition Based Maintenance programme.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Maintain maintenance documents and drawings to the required standard to ensure legal compliance.
  • Use SCADA and HMI to determine process conditions and aid in fault finding.
  • Report any poor maintenance practices and deviations from our Maintenance Management Framework and business process standards.
  • Use our CMMS system for work orders and recording of time, spares, and resources.
  • Assist in mechanical plant upgrades as assigned by our Lifecycle Team Manager.
Requirements:
  • Strong fault diagnosis and rectification skills on detailed systems and equipment.
  • Ability to read PIDs and mechanical schematics to a high level of understanding.
  • Good working knowledge of rotating machinery, shaft alignment, machinery mounting, service equipment, conveying systems, pneumatics, and hydraulics.
  • Competent in the use of machine tools and hand tools.
  • Excellent understanding of health, safety, and environmental compliance.
  • Working knowledge of PTW and LOTO systems.
