As a Senior Speech and Language Therapist, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality, person-centred rehabilitation care to patients with acquired brain injury, traumatic brain injury, severe neurological conditions, complex stroke, and spinal cord injury.
About the RoleThis is a part-time, permanent position, working 7.5 hours per week with days and times to be agreed. As a Senior Speech and Language Therapist, you will be responsible for managing and prioritising a caseload of patients with highly complex speech, language and communication impairments and swallowing difficulties. You will use evidence-based patient-centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions, working in a specialist inpatient neurological rehabilitation unit.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver a highly specialist Speech and Language Therapy service, managing and prioritising a caseload of patients with highly complex speech, language and communication impairments and swallowing difficulties.
- Use evidence-based patient-centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions, working in a specialist inpatient neurological rehabilitation unit.
- Develop and maintain your skills and knowledge working with clients who have complex cognitive-communication, language and speech disorders following brain injury, both 1:1 and in small therapy groups.
- Be supported to develop your specialist clinical skills across the spectrum of brain injury presentations, including working with patients who have prolonged disorders of consciousness, or require a tracheostomy, AAC or supporting clients to return to work or study.
- Continually develop your own clinical and leadership skills through a wide range of supervision, learning and teaching opportunities, both internally and externally.
