We are seeking a dedicated Female Support Worker to join our team and provide practical support and ensure safety with everyday activities in the community for a young lady with cerebral palsy in her own home in the Tredegar area of South Wales.

The successful candidate will facilitate the client's independence by adopting the appropriate approach as advised by the case manager and therapists and in consultation with the client.

We require a support worker who will provide a positive influence and a strong desire to have a positive effect on the client, and a commitment to supporting and promoting her individual needs, skills, abilities, and personal goals.

Female applicants only due to personal care requirements.

Interviews may be held via Zoom/Skype/other teleconferencing tools, therefore candidates MUST HAVE the ability to attend interview via these methods.

Key Details:

16 hours per week.

To be able to work flexibly within a rota which will be agile across a month. Regular hours may occur due to the nature of shift patterns, however, no set days are to be relied upon.

Essential Requirements:

  • An NVQ (or equivalent) in care and recent training would be an advantage.
  • Some experience of caring for people with physical and/or learning disabilities.
  • A positive interest in active rehabilitation and a desire to enable this person to reach her full potential.
  • Female applicants only due to the occupational nature of the role.
  • Excellent communication skills, especially with the client, her family, and other professionals involved.
  • A DBS on the update service or will complete an enhanced DBS if successful. Initial DBS check paid for by us.

Desirable Requirements:

  • Current training in Equality, diversity and inclusion, Health and safety at work, Control of substances hazardous to health, Fire safety awareness, Infection control, Food hygiene, Manual handling, First aid / basic life support including CPR, Safeguarding vulnerable adults, Safeguarding vulnerable children, Conflict management, and Lone working.
  • A full UK driving licence.
