Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Degree Apprenticeship Workplace Reviewer to join our team at the University of Derby. As a key member of our Apprenticeship Hub, you will play a vital role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality apprenticeships in Manufacturing and Materials Engineering.

Your primary responsibility will be to work with employers and apprentices to ensure the implementation of quality reviews and assessment of off and on-the-job evidence for audit using an e-portfolio. You will also act as a personal professional academic tutor for apprentices, providing support and guidance to help them achieve their full potential.

To be successful in this role, you will need to have a strong background in engineering, with experience of working in a relevant sector with apprentices and employers. You will also need to be able to work flexibly to arrange online and face-to-face meetings and complete administrative tasks to deadline.

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as a personal professional academic tutor for apprentices, providing support and guidance to help them achieve their full potential.
  • Work with employers and apprentices to ensure the implementation of quality reviews and assessment of off and on-the-job evidence for audit using an e-portfolio.
  • Provide expert operational advice to the Apprenticeship Hub Team to support Funding Compliance.
  • Ensure coordination between apprentices, external clients, and internal academic operations teams.
  • Take lead responsibility for working with employers and external professional bodies to ensure that suitable evidence is available on the professional body's career development portal to enable the student to progress and apply for the end-point assessment.
  • Ensure that the apprentice is building a complete portfolio of experience in readiness for their End-Point Assessment (EPA) in accordance with apprenticeship guidelines.
  • Work with the academic team and End-Point Assessment Organisations (EPAOs) to ensure that the apprentice is prepared for their EPA within the apprenticeship guidelines and to sign off that the apprentices have completed their e-portfolio.
  • Work with the Head of Apprenticeships, the Apprenticeships Hub, and Heads of School to provide an outstanding apprenticeship service to sponsors, learners, and employers.
  • Collate Employer and Apprentice review comments to inform programme committees and the University's continual monitoring process for quality enhancement.
Requirements
  • HNC/HND or similar qualification at Level 5 in Engineering, or Materials and/or Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent qualification.
  • Relevant work experience in the engineering sector related to the apprenticeship standard in the UK.
  • Demonstrable experience of working in the engineering sector to have obtained a broad skills base in areas such as materials and manufacturing processes, computer-aided design and modelling, electrical and electronics, industrial control systems, operations management, nuclear operations, and computer-integrated manufacturing.
  • Knowledge and experience of the current degree and apprenticeship programmes above Level 4 and associated funding quality and compliance processes and systems.
  • Able to motivate and coach/mentor individuals both academics and students.
  • Show commitment to first-class customer service and achieving high-quality outputs and outcomes.
