We are seeking an experienced professional to join our team at Be Free Young Carers. This role is a fantastic opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of young carers in West Oxfordshire.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing support and advice to young carers, working closely with our youth work team to devise, develop, implement, and manage programs of social activities. These activities may include trips, training, emotional one-to-one support, and other initiatives designed to promote the well-being of young carers.

This role involves:

  • Providing individualized support to young carers, collaborating with external agencies to ensure the best possible outcomes;
  • Establishing relationships with schools across West Oxfordshire, offering them guidance on identifying and responding to the needs of young carers within their classrooms;
  • Assisting schools in setting up Young Carers Groups and introducing Young Carer Leads into their settings;
  • Making significant contributions towards awareness-raising events and activities aimed at increasing the identification and support of young carers, including collaboration with schools and community groups;
  • Liaising and working with colleagues to empower young carers and their families;
  • Participating in assessments of young carers as part of the Common Assessment Framework (CAF), Team around the Child (TAC), Young Carers assessments, and assessments conducted by other professionals;
  • Encouraging the active participation of young carers, ensuring their voices are heard;
  • Supporting young carers and their families in accessing appropriate services;
  • Recording all casework contact information and ensuring that relevant consent forms, assessments, Baseline Forms, and other necessary documentation are completed and recorded for each young carer;
  • Ensuring that all tasks, procedures, and practices adhere to Be Free Young Carers' policies, including safeguarding and child protection, health and safety, confidentiality, and equal opportunities;
  • Contributing to the creation of newsletters and other communications targeting young carers and their families;
  • Maintaining awareness of, and adhering to, national and local policy regarding safeguarding children and vulnerable adults;
  • Monitoring and evaluating work, producing records and reports as required;
  • Contributing to a safe, positive, and welcoming working environment;
  • Attending training sessions and meetings as needed;
  • Providing reports and information to Trustees and other stakeholders as required;
  • Supporting the promotion and publicizing of Be Free Young Carers;
  • Attending and contributing to team meetings, representing Be Free Young Carers at external gatherings as needed;
  • Actively participating in and supporting the development of Be Free Young Carers.
