General Ledger Assistant

We are currently seeking a talented Finance Assistant to join our team in Heywood, Greater Manchester. As a key member of the finance department, you will provide critical support to the business in various financial aspects.
Responsibilities:
- Support with daily bank reconciliations and cash flow projections
- Process sales ledger invoices, generate customer statements, and process payments
- Oversee credit control activities, including due/overdue accounts and correspondence with customers
- Manage purchase ledger invoices, statement reconciliation, and supplier payments
- Administer weekly and monthly wages and expenses using Xero
- Guarantee timely submission of pension contributions and handle subcontractor tax deductions under the HMRC's CIS programme
- Issue monthly CIS tax statements to subcontractors
- Coordinate monthly PAYE/NIC/CIS payments to HMRC
- Complete quarterly VAT reconciliations, submissions, and payments
- Sustain project files and maintain related financial data
- Supervise timesheet information and oversee costs on Job Costing
Essential Skills and Qualifications:
- AAT qualification or relevant experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Customer-focused approach (internal & external)
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
Estimated Salary Range: £26,000 - £31,000 per year
