Job Summary:

Lancaster University is seeking a highly motivated and experienced professional to join our team as a Widening Participation Officer. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to our efforts in promoting social mobility and addressing educational inequality.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver the Lancaster Access Programme (LAP) to encourage students from Widening Participation backgrounds to apply to Lancaster as a first-choice destination for undergraduate study.
  • Work collaboratively with young people, teachers, and schools/colleges to develop and implement effective outreach strategies.
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders to promote the university's commitment to social mobility and student success.
  • Manage and coordinate projects to achieve strategic objectives, including project planning, budgeting, and evaluation.
  • Travel across the North West and occasionally further afield within the UK to engage with stakeholders and promote the university's initiatives.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in working with young people, teachers, and schools/colleges to develop and deliver outreach programs.
  • Excellent project management skills, with the ability to plan, coordinate, and evaluate projects to achieve strategic objectives.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a flexible approach to working hours and travel.
  • Knowledge of the higher education sector and its role in promoting social mobility and student success.
