About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Mental Health Nurse to join our Early Intervention in Psychosis service (STEP) at Somerset NHS Foundation Trust. As a Specialist EIP Practitioner, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care to individuals experiencing their first episode of psychosis.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide assessments, care coordination, outreach, and support to individuals and their families/carers.
  • Deliver individual therapy/support and family interventions as a member of the Family Support Service.
  • Work autonomously with the support of a strong team of healthcare professionals to reduce the duration of untreated psychosis.

We are a specialist service for people between the age of 14-65 who are experiencing, or at high risk of developing, their first episode of Psychosis.

Requirements
  • RMN, Social Work, or Occupational Therapy Qualification.
  • Current registration with relevant professional body.
  • Evidence of post-qualifying professional development in an acute setting.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
  • Degree/Diploma level qualification in family interventions in psychosis (e.g. FIRST Course)/CBT for Psychosis/Psychosocial Interventions.
  • Other relevant specialist CPD qualification (e.g. Clinical assessment).
  • Familiarity with Early Interventions principles and research.
  • Significant post-registration experience in multi-disciplinary community mental health services.
