As a key member of the Sentinel Marine Ltd team, the Chief Officer will be responsible for:
- Assuming command of the vessel in the absence of the appointed Master, ensuring seamless operations and maintaining the highest standards of safety and efficiency.
- Supervising the deck department, overseeing the organization and management of deck personnel, and ensuring compliance with international regulations and company policies.
- Coordinating safety and vessel familiarization for all ship personnel, ensuring a smooth transition for new team members and maintaining a culture of safety and excellence.
- Managing cargo calculations, including ullages, deadweight scale, and equipment on board, to determine trim and stability in port and while handling cargo on location.
- Supervising loading, unloading, and ballasting operations, ensuring efficient and safe execution.
- Standing navigation, port, and anchor watches as per agreed watch rotation, maintaining situational awareness and ensuring the vessel's safe navigation.
- Managing and updating the Planned Maintenance System, ensuring the vessel's equipment is properly maintained and up-to-date.
- Conducting inventory of existing equipment, compiling a maintenance plan, and preparing requisitions for spares required.
- Assisting the Ships Master with performance appraisals of Deck Ratings, providing constructive feedback and supporting career development.
- Preparing a handover report for the relieving Chief Officer, ensuring a smooth transition and maintaining continuity.
- Executing measures to prevent and/or reduce pollution to the environment, adhering to international regulations and company policies.
- Carrying out duties of the designated Safety Officer, ensuring compliance with safety protocols and regulations.
- Monitoring inspection of all equipment contained within the Safety Equipment Record Book, maintaining accurate records and ensuring compliance.
