Governance and Regulatory Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Governance and Regulatory Specialist to join our team at Canada Life Group (UK) Ltd (The). This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in ensuring awareness and reporting of governance-related initiatives, monitoring regulatory or audit deadlines, and partnering with teams to assess new products and processes.
The successful candidate will have extensive experience in risk management, regulatory compliance, and incident management. They will also possess analytical and reporting skills, as well as the ability to remain calm under pressure and provide measured responses.
We offer a competitive salary of £60,000 - £80,000 per annum, plus a comprehensive benefits package including a generous pension and bonus scheme, income protection, private medical insurance, and life assurance.
About the Role:
- Ensuring awareness and reporting of all governance-related initiatives (issues, incidents & actions)
- Monitoring regulatory or audit deadlines to make sure we don't miss anything
- Partnering with teams to help assess new products, processes, controls and features by embedding good regulatory compliance and risk practices
- Thorough awareness & understanding of industry risk standards and practices
- Contribution risk assessments (RCSA) in the 1st line and drive actions to address the root causes that may lead to operational risk losses by challenging both historical and proposed practices
- Provides challenge and guidance to ensure appropriate remedial actions are in place where deficiencies (Issues) are identified.
- Escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency and creating a positive risk culture
- Supporting the application of operational risk policies to create lasting solutions for minimising losses from failed internal processes, inadequate controls and emerging risks
