Job Description

Tewv Brits is seeking an experienced consultant psychiatrist to join our Adult Mental Health team.

The successful candidate will work in Cedar Ward, a Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) based at West Park Hospital in Darlington. The unit provides intensive care for clients requiring a high level of care from the County Durham, Northallerton, and Harrogate area.

The main duties of the job include providing psychiatric intensive inpatient care to clients aged 16-65 years. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing clinical complexity and uncertainty, making decisions based on evidence and experience, and meeting duties under the Mental Health Act and Mental Capacity Act.

Tewv Brits is a multi-award-winning trust that takes a proactive approach to supporting staff in their personal development. The trust has embedded the Talent Management approach within the organization, with the vision of helping people to be as good as they can be, and helping Tewv Brits to do things better.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Provide psychiatric intensive inpatient care to clients aged 16-65 years.
  2. Manage clinical complexity and uncertainty.
  3. Make decisions based on evidence and experience.
  4. Meet duties under the Mental Health Act and Mental Capacity Act.
Requirements
  • MB BS or equivalent medical qualification.
  • Qualification or higher degree in medical education, clinical research, or management.
  • Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practise at the time of appointment.
  • Included on the GMC Specialist Register for Adult Psychiatry or included within six months.
  • Approved clinician status or able to achieve within three months of appointment.
  • In good standing with GMC with respect to warnings and conditions on practice.
Working Arrangements

This is a full-time (10PA) consultant post.

The successful candidate will be based at West Park Hospital in Darlington.
