Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated nurse to join our Neurorehabilitation service as a Head Injury Support Nurse. The successful candidate will have a proven ability to lead, inspire, and engage all members of the multi-disciplinary team.

Main Responsibilities

The post holder will support patients who have suffered major traumatic brain injury throughout their hospital stay and post discharge, with a particular focus on the A&E Department and the Critical Care Departments. They will navigate patients and families onto further support services as required and in conjunction with the multidisciplinary team.

About the Role

The Head Injury Support Nurse will develop strong cohesive cross-collaborative working relationships with medical staff, ward managers, nurses, therapists, and those involved in direct support of the patients and family members/carers. They will take a proactive approach to arranging and supporting patients and their carers through their care pathway, including goal planning and discharge planning meetings.

Requirements

  • ONMC Level One Registration
  • First level degree in the nursing discipline and record of continuous personal, professional, and academic development
  • Significant post-registration experience working within the specialty
  • Significant experience of working with patients with brain injuries

Training and Development

The successful candidate will be expected to attend the Leadership and Improvement Training programme, which includes six and a half days of training. This programme aims to develop leadership effectiveness and skills, equip staff with the necessary knowledge and skills to lead and complete service improvements within the scope of their role, and promote Trust values and behaviours.
