The UK Project Manager/Director will play a key role in the planning, development, and execution of LanzaTech's strategic objectives in the UK and beyond.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage projects from conception to completion, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery.
  • Develop and implement project plans, including budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including business development, engineering, and operations, to ensure project success.
  • Manage project risks, issues, and changes, ensuring minimal impact on project timelines and budgets.
  • Coordinate with external partners, including engineering firms, contractors, and suppliers, to ensure project deliverables meet specifications.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with clients, stakeholders, and project team members, ensuring effective communication and problem resolution.
  • Manage project documentation, including reports, meeting minutes, and project records.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and company policies.
  • Travel to client facilities and project sites as required, up to 30% of the time.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of project execution and project management experience, preferably in the energy, biotechnology, chemicals, or fuels sectors.
  • Proven experience managing multimillion-dollar design and construction projects, with a background in chemical engineering or a related field.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills, with a high degree of professionalism and customer service.
  • Ability to demonstrate effective coordination, planning, and organizational skills, with a focus on meeting project deadlines and budgets.
  • Leadership, negotiation, and relationship-building skills, with experience managing and evaluating equipment suppliers, engineering firms, and subcontractors.
  • Self-motivated, with the ability to take initiative, work independently, and in a team environment.
  • Ability to apply project management fundamentals and industry best practices to solve problems, with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Valid passport for international travel, as required.

Preferred/Valued Qualifications

  • Experience with oil & gas, fermentation, process development, and/or process operations in a bioprocessing facility.
  • Experience licensing technology, and executing projects with technology licensors and/or EPC companies.
  • Prior plant engineering, construction, commissioning, and start-up experience.
  • Track record of taking on big challenges and striving to change the world.

Work Environment

  • Able to work remotely and in a general office environment.
  • Up to 30% of travel required, majority within the UK, with some travel for extended periods to support projects during peak periods.
