We are working closely with a Local Authority in Plymouth to assist with the appointment of a Caseworker, on a 2-month contract. This role is highly likely to be extended at our client's discretion.

The successful candidate will be responsible for taking ownership of approximately 450 Statements of Special Educational Needs, ensuring they are maintained, reviewed and amended annually in accordance with statutory timelines.

Additionally, you will be undertaking casework for new assessments of special educational needs, totaling approximately 250 per year. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Identifying and acting upon children with Statements undergoing phased transfer;
  • Liaising and working closely with the Admissions Team to ensure the allocation of places, including phased transfers, is carried out in accordance with the Admission Policy;
  • Maintaining and reviewing Statements of Special Educational Needs, with a focus on amendments within statutory deadlines as laid down in the DFE SEN Code of Practice.

Qualifications for this role include:

  • Two GCSEs Grade C or above in Maths and English or an NVQ II in Business Administration;
  • At least two years of experience in an office environment, demonstrating the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines;
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to correspond effectively with parents/carers and professionals throughout the assessment process.

This is a temporary position, though it has the potential to be extended by our client on a longer-term basis.
