Job Details

At The King's (The Cathedral) School, we are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join our team. As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting our pupils to achieve their full potential.

Main Responsibilities

• Provide support to pupils in the classroom, ensuring their safety and access to learning.

• Establish positive relationships with pupils, acting as a role model and interacting with them according to individual needs.

• Promote inclusion and acceptance of all pupils in all situations.

• Supervise and provide support to pupils, including those with special needs, ensuring their safety and access to learning activities.

• Provide feedback to pupils on their progress and achievement under the guidance of the teacher.

• Utilize specialist skills and training to support pupils.

• Support pupils consistently, recognizing and responding to their individual needs.

• Encourage pupils to interact and work cooperatively with others and engage all pupils in activities.

• Promote independence and employ strategies to recognize and reward achievement of self-reliance.

• Accompany teaching staff and pupils on visits, trips, and out-of-school activities as required within the working day and take responsibility for a group under the supervision of the teacher.

What We Offer

The King's (The Cathedral) School is a unique and special place to work, educating children from seven years old through to eighteen. We have a strong reputation in the area and are one of a small number of state schools that has retained close links to the Cathedral dating back to 1541. We are heavily oversubscribed, and staff retention is very high. Our school places a real emphasis on students achieving well academically alongside participating in a wide range of sporting, musical, and leadership opportunities.

We offer a wide range of extra-curricular activities, and we ensure our SEN students benefit from these. These include House Music competition, Year 7 and 9 residential trips, Duke of Edinburgh Award (Bronze and Gold), School drama performances, trips to France and Germany, sport, and attending activities week programs. We often have SEN students in senior prefect roles in Year 13.
