About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join Mears as a Tenant Welfare Officer, playing a key role in providing temporary accommodation and support to vulnerable individuals. As part of our front-line delivery team, you will work closely with colleagues, external agencies, and charitable organizations to ensure our tenants are in the strongest position to succeed in their follow-on moves.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess and record the welfare and support needs of clients, identifying areas for improvement and developing action plans to meet those needs.
  • Organize and provide support for clients preparing to move on to greater independence, ensuring a smooth transition and successful outcomes.
  • Contribute to the protection of clients, neighbors, and the local community, safeguarding and welfare being fully considered in line with processes.
  • Deliver services through sign-posting, direct referral, and liaison with other housing, health, and social care professionals, benefits, welfare, and advocacy agencies, and other landlords as appropriate.
  • Ensure full contractual compliance and successful outcomes of all Key Performance Indicators and service delivery targets.
  • Manage tenancy breaches in line with Mears processes and procedures, ensuring clients understand their mutual terms and obligations.
  • Conduct regular property inspections to ensure full contractual compliance and successful outcomes of all Key Performance Indicators, internal and commercial targets.
  • Deliver move-in and move-out services, ensuring all issues and risks are flagged to the relevant teams for action.
Requirements
  • Experience in delivering front-line customer service, working as part of a team, and delivering against targets.
  • Understanding of the roles and responsibilities of statutory authorities and voluntary groups in providing identifiable support needs.
  • A flexible working approach and the ability to work to tight deadlines.
  • Ability to identify individual and family need and recognize the required support packages to maintain independence.
  • Effective communication skills, both face-to-face and in writing.
  • Ability to understand differing cultures and adapt approach to achieve best outcomes.
