Customs and Air Freight Manager

At Freight Personnel, we are seeking a highly skilled Customs and Air Freight Manager to join our team. This role will be responsible for overseeing our customs and airfreight processes, managing air-freight space, and ensuring a continued high level of service while driving down costs.
Key Responsibilities:- Establish and manage our ETSF, AEO, and MOU
- Manage end-to-end import and export processes and customs entries
- Manage our customs integration provider
- Lead a team of customs clerks to ensure smooth running of customs processes
- Ensure compliance with all relevant import and export regulations
- Act as the main contact point for customs-related matters
- Design processes and build SOPs, circulate to the business, and ensure they are being followed
- Obtain required airfreight space, liaising with providers, and monitoring volumes to ensure no delays or waste of space
- Liaise with airfreight providers to drive down costs and improve service
- Manage carriers and handling agents to minimize issues and combat exceptions
- Report to the business on various topics, such as AKE fill rate and airfreight costs
- Work with analysts to create relevant and impactful reporting
- Establish Starlinks Global's wholesale and screening program, offering to market our services as a third-party wholesaler and manage these relationships
- Expert knowledge of imports, exports, and transshipments
- Familiarity with multiple customs systems
- Strong commercial focus and ability to negotiate
- Experience creating and discharging transit docs (T1 etc.)
- Strong knowledge of customs processes and systems
- Proven track record of building and leading a team
- Experience with bonded goods and bonded clearance
