Job Title: Risk & Controls Manager, M&G Life

12-month secondment / FTC

We are seeking a highly skilled Risk & Controls Manager to join our Risk, Assurance and Remediation team with our Life Division. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for overseeing risk and controls across Operations, Individual Life & Pensions, Corporate Risk Solutions, and providing risk oversight of our material third parties.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the Managing Director/s to roll out and maintain risk management practices in line with M&G's Operational Risk Framework.
  • Identify and assess key risks, plan appropriate risk treatment paths, and identify and implement key controls.
  • Monitor risk and control environment metrics and other indicators.
  • Establish and chair local governance forums for the supported Business Area/s.
  • Review and enhance risk forum papers to ensure that Managing Directors have an up-to-date risk profile.
  • Provide inputs or escalations to Life and PAC risk reporting team as required.
  • Identify and assess emerging risks proactively with the relevant Business Area.
  • Manage or support thematic risk, control or policy adherence reviews as required.
  • Ensure RCSA owners regularly self-assess top risks impacting the business area.
  • Lead the coordination of completion of change risk assessments for significant projects/programmes.
  • Drive/lead projects and team improvement initiatives.
  • Lead, support, and coach colleagues to ensure your team provides and maintains an excellent risk SME service to all stakeholders.
Key Requirements:
  • At least 10-15 years experience working in regulated financial services organisations, in a Line 1 or 2 role.
  • Experience of implementing risk frameworks and methodologies.
  • Collaborative nature, with ability to work effectively with colleagues in Risk, Operations, and other key functions within M&G Life and across the Group.
  • Working knowledge of Life and pensions products, markets, and competitors.
