Job Title: Haematology Nurse Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Haematology Nurse Specialist to join our Clinical Haematology team at University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust. As a Haematology Nurse Specialist, you will play a vital role in providing expert care to patients with haematological malignancies, working closely with the multidisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized care plans.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assess patients' plans, implement and evaluate care, and offer specialist advice and support to patients and carers with a haematological malignancy.
  • Act as a source of expertise and knowledge to healthcare professionals related to haematology malignancies.
  • Influence patient care through indirect roles of providing specialist education and training to other staff/students and undertaking research, audits, and service development within haematology malignancies.
  • Provide specialist information and support for patients with a haematological malignancy and their carers during the diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up stages.
  • Ensure that patients have psychological assessment and intervention as necessary, supporting the multidisciplinary team to support the patient through their pathway.
Requirements:
  • Registered Nurse with significant experience at band 6.
  • Substantial experience in cancer care or oncology or haematology oncology.
  • Educated to degree level or BSc Hons in a relevant subject or evidence of equivalent level of study.
  • Specialist qualification in haematology or specialist-related qualification at BSc/MSc level.
  • Advanced communications skills training.
  • Knowledge of cancer pathways or targets or national-level policy relevant to the specialty.
  • Previous chemotherapy administration skills/oral chemotherapy.
  • Autonomous working experience in haematology.
  • Non-Medical Prescribing.
