Advanced Practitioner/Matron Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the acute oncology team at University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust for an advanced practitioner/matron role. The successful candidate will work 50% of the time as an advanced nurse practitioner and 50% as a matron, supporting patients with toxicities of treatment and managing the acute oncology team.
Main Duties- Work within the acute oncology nursing team based in Princess Royal and Brighton hospitals, with cross-site working within University Hospital Sussex.
- Function as an expert practitioner, overseeing the development of nursing services within acute oncology and immunotherapy.
- Develop ambulatory pathways for patients exhibiting toxicities on immunotherapy to prevent hospital admission.
- Support and line manage the UHsussex AO/IO teams, helping to strengthen education for multi-disciplinary staff in the management of patients with acute oncology and toxicities presentations.
- Collaborate with nurses and AHPs in general ward areas, supporting their educational needs in caring for patients with acute oncology needs.
- Develop and establish clinically effective standards of specialist care, initiating and developing protocols and guidelines for staff.

Person Specification- Registered Nurse
- Master's in nursing, including advanced clinical practice skill set
- Experience in cancer nursing and SACT
- Cancer or Haematology Nursing Pathway or equivalent
