About the Job

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our team as an Assistant Scientist. In this role, you will be responsible for organizing and delivering customer calibrations and measurements in accordance with ISO 9001 and UKAS accreditation (ISO 17025). Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Planning and making measurements, analyzing data, and generating customer reports
  • Assisting in the maintenance of facilities and equipment to ensure delivery of other measurements
  • Working alongside other scientists as part of project teams to deliver new measurement capabilities and solutions

Key Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • A good knowledge of physics and mathematics to A level or above
  • An active interest in engineering or experience of working in a laboratory environment
  • A basic knowledge of electrical and magnetic quantities and measurement techniques
  • An ability to problem-solve, observe trends in measurement results, and question results when needed
  • Good communication skills (both written and verbal) to liaise with customers and discuss results
  • Excellent team working and relationship skills, with the ability to adapt and apply knowledge to new challenges
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications, with experience with technical software such as Mathcad or Labview a bonus
