As a highly skilled Substation Advanced Apprentice, you will play a pivotal role in the maintenance and repair of high-voltage substation equipment at National Grid plc.

This three-year apprenticeship programme offers hands-on experience, providing you with the opportunity to contribute to the smooth operation of our substations and the overall electricity transmission network.

We are seeking an individual who is passionate about electrical systems and willing to learn and develop their skills. As part of this programme, you will gain expertise in the maintenance and repair of circuit breakers, transformers, disconnectors, compressors, and auxiliary systems.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Maintenance and repair of high-voltage substation equipment.
  • Contribution to the smooth operation of our substations and the overall electricity transmission network.

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • Five GCSEs or equivalent qualifications, including passes in Maths and English Language (grades 4/C or above) OR a Level 2 Pass in Functional Skills.
  • A driving licence that permits you to drive in the UK by the end of your first year.
